Annual Global Missions Conference
Acts 29: I Am Building My Church
February 21-23, 2025
The theme for the 2025 Global Missions Conference refers to God continuing to build His Church until He comes. How is He building His Church? Through you, His people. To His followers, Jesus said, “I will build my Church” and later gave them a command to “Make Disciples of all Nations”. In the book of Acts, we read an inspiring account of the birth and growth of Jesus followers. No other story of human endeavor has greater, or even equal, significance in all of history. People empowered by God’s Spirit, in obedience to the commands of Jesus of Nazareth, began a movement that spread from Jerusalem to Rome. This movement continues today, and Acts Chapter 29 is being written by faithful followers of Jesus around the world. As promised, Jesus is building His church and inviting us to join Him. This year, we will also be celebrating First Evan's 90th Anniversary, so it will be a special time of remembrance, praise, and looking forward to the years to come.
Stay tuned. Schedule details will be announced soon. We hope to see you at one of our most anticipated events of the year!
Global Missions at
First Evan
Two millennia of church history have passed and First Evangelical Church has only occupied a few years of that span. From its very beginning in 1935, FEC has maintained an intentional focus on Global Missions and Memphis Ministries. Over the years we have seen the Lord at work through our humble efforts all around the world. At First Evan we consider it a great privilege to be invited by our loving God to participate in bringing people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to live as disciples of Jesus in this tumultuous world.
FEC’s Global Mission Team exists to motivate, develop, and equip members to go, send, give, and pray for the purpose of proclaiming the gospel, making disciples, and planting and strengthening churches, especially among the large, unreached populations in the world.
Let us continue to be gospel witnesses at home and abroad.
Pray
As a congregation our priority is prayer for our missionary families. Each person attending our church is encouraged to pray for at least one missionary and to build a relationship with that person or family. Materials are available from the missions office to help you become a prayer partner. Hundreds are already doing this, but our vision is that everyone attending First Evan would make this missions commitment.
Contact the Missions Office for additional prayer resources.
Give
Another avenue of missions involvement is generous giving of the money God is blessing you with.
There are three ways in which you can invest in First Evan missions:
Designate "Missions Fund" on your check or on the giving envelope. All money in this fund is used for such projects as Bible translation, supporting national pastors, training national missionaries, short-term trips, etc.
Designate a particular First Evan approved missionary whose ministry you would like to support. All funds designated for particular First Evan approved missionaries are totaled each month and sent to their mission agency for their personal and ministry support.
Designate the International Disaster Fund to provide financial resources to people in grave need worldwide, such as Ukraine. It seems there are more and more tragic events that grab the headlines of our news sources. We are attempting to help provide some comfort to people in Jesus’ name through our trusted ministry partners.
Contact the Missions Office for additional giving opportunities.
Go & Serve
If you are interested in mission trips, missions opportunities, becoming a career missionary, or serving with Global Missions, please contact the Missions Office.
Mission Trips (1–4 weeks)
Every year we plan short-term mission trips here in the USA and abroad. This provides tremendous opportunities for you to GO and/or to SEND (pray & give), to learn about missions and to minister to people with the love of Christ. These trips are organized for missions exposure & training, for evangelizing the lost and for the encouragement of missionaries and nationals who have been laboring in the field for many years.
Short-term Missions Opportunities
(6 months–3 years)
Our missionaries and partner agencies are always looking for short term help. Please contact the Missions Office and we will pray with you and guide you in finding the right place for you. This opportunity is available to all adults, singles or couples, of all ages.
Career Missions Opportunities
We are praying for the Lord to raise up new missionaries from our FEC family to go to one of our strategic priority areas. Contact the Missions Office for more information or email Jim Pendleton.
Send
Over the years, First Evan has sent many of our own people. Currently, about 1/3 of our approved missionaries grew up at First Evan. All of our missionaries have a strong relationship with First Evan. By being involved with the Global Missions Team, one has the privilege of casting a vision for Global Missions at First Evan, vetting new missionary candidates, and sending them off to the field.
Serve on the Global Missions Team
Each year new members are added to the Global Missions Team (GMT) to replace the ones who rotate off after serving a three-year term. Volunteers should have a heart for missions. The GMT seeks to guide FEC's missions program in light of the Scriptural Foundation, the Definition of Missions, and the Missions Purpose Statement. Contact the Missions Office for more information at 682-8452.
